讲座内容:Polarisation is an often overlooked but powerful source of visual information that extends beyond conventional intensity based imaging. While most computer vision systems rely on intensity measurements at one or more wavelengths, the polarisation state of light provides complementary cues that are typically untapped. This talk introduces the principles of polarisation, how it arises through reflection and scattering, and how it can be measured. Applications are presented that relate to 3D shape recovery, where surface normals are estimated via degree and angle of polarisation; haze and underwater visibility enhancement via separation of polarised and unpolarised light; and inspection of composite materials via surface fibre angle measurements.
