Title:  ASIC Design: Modeling and Analysis

 

Abstract: Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) is the primary medium for design of electronic products in this century. Present-day IC-design methodology based on high level design capture and the use of logic synthesis is far from a "push-button" solution. To realize a high quality design, the designer must simultaneously consider both the coding of the design and the requirements for logic synthesis. The talk discusses modeling and analysis techniques for ASIC designs. The successful modeling and validation experience are addressed. The potential research challenges and directions are explored.

 

Bio: Dr. Xiaoyu Song received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Pisa, Italy, 1992. From 1992 to 1998, he was on the faculty at the University of Montreal, Canada. He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Portland State University in 1998, where he is now a professor. He was an editor of IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems and IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems. He was awarded an Intel Faculty Fellowship from 2000 to 2005. His research interests include formal methods, embedded system design, and design automation.
